These terms govern your use of Merkebna. By creating an account or paying, you agree to them. A short version of cancellation and refunds is also on the Cancel & refunds page.
Merkebna is a paid DNS lock. You install it yourself on your own devices, or a parent installs it on a child’s device. It is not medical treatment, therapy or a guarantee that addiction will stop.
If you do not agree, do not create an account and do not install Merkebna.
While a subscription is active, Merkebna filters DNS on enrolled devices. Adult content stays blocked. Social apps, extra apps and websites follow the limits of your plan after you confirm them.
Supported platforms are iPhone/iPad, Android, Windows and macOS. Setup steps differ per platform. Android locked setup requires a factory reset after backup.
You must give a real email address and keep your password secret. You use the same login on every device. You are responsible for activity on your account.
One person may not share a login to bypass the device limit. We may freeze an account that is used to attack our systems or to evade the lock.
Plans are Starter, Family and Home, billed monthly or yearly. Prices and payment methods depend on the country you choose at checkout (card, PayPal or Chapa where offered).
Online subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each paid period until you complete a confirmed stop in your account. Yearly plans renew once a year. You authorise the payment provider to charge the then-current price.
A valid invite code may reduce the first payment only. Later renewals are at the normal plan price unless we say otherwise.
This is the point of Merkebna. You install it yourself. While the subscription is active, you cannot turn the lock off in a weak moment. Deleting the app does not remove protection.
Adult filtering cannot be switched off while you are subscribed. Confirmed social-app, extra-app and website blocks stay locked until the subscription ends, unless we change them after a support request.
You cancel in Account. We show what happens, then you must type the confirmation code. If you do not type that code, nothing changes and you keep paying.
After a confirmed stop, protection stays on until the end date you already paid for. Then Merkebna turns off. You are not charged again. You can start a new subscription later.
On iPhone and iPad, Apple still requires the profile removal code to take the profile off the device after the subscription has ended.
Payment starts the service immediately. Because Merkebna is a digital lock that you can use at once, we do not refund the current paid period after activation.
A first-payment invite discount is not a refund. Referral commission is credited only after a successful payment and is not cash in your bank unless we later pay it out.
If you have not enrolled any device and you contact us within 14 days of the first payment, we will review a goodwill refund. Chargebacks without contacting us first may lead to account closure. They do not unlock a device faster than a normal confirmed stop.
A cash invite is for someone who already paid a partner in cash. Merkebna then activates the agreed plan and period. We did not take that cash, so we do not refund it. Period length and plan are set by the invite. Questions about the money go to the partner who collected it, and to us for the technical account.
Invite codes are optional. Without a code you pay the normal price. With a valid code the new customer may get a first-payment discount. The code owner earns commission only after that customer’s payment succeeds. Commission is stored on the Merkebna account. Percentages are set by us in admin and can change for new signups.
Do not use Merkebna to attack networks, spread malware, or break another person’s device without authority. Parents may lock a child’s device. Adults lock their own. Adult content filtering stays on for every enrolled device while subscribed.
Each plan has a device limit. You cannot remove devices yourself to free a slot. For a replacement phone, contact us. For more devices, upgrade the plan. We are not liable for data loss if you skip the Android backup steps before factory reset.
We aim to keep DNS filtering running. Outages can happen at Merkebna, NextDNS, Apple, Google or your network. The service is provided as available. Merkebna does not replace professional help for addiction.
To the extent allowed by law, Merkebna is not liable for indirect loss, missed profits, or content that still appears if a device was not enrolled correctly. Our total liability for a claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Merkebna in the 12 months before the claim. This does not limit liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including intent or gross negligence.
We do not store individual DNS query logs. What we keep is described in the Privacy policy and the logging page. Payments are handled by Stripe, PayPal or Chapa.
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. Continued payment after a change means you accept the new terms, except where the law requires extra consent. Price changes apply from the next renewal.
These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you also keep the mandatory rights of your country of residence.
